Atelier Extramuros, Furniture & Up-cycling
In Gennevilliers, in a Veolia sorting center, the exemplary nature was nested. Atelier Extramuros extracts the beauty of waste, transfigures waste; the recovered and reworked wood becomes designer furniture of a well thought-out beauty.
From the workshop, they go by truck to retrieve, find, reinvent resources in the middle of artificial mountains. The course is marked by strict safety rules, the alliance is fruitful. Furniture, parquet, hardwood, beam, aglomerate, pallet ... In this environment of functional and immobile ugliness, between hangars and machines, the beauty of a heap of glass debris leans against two walls concrete. Aesthetic visions of a raw and contemporary art drawn from a material and its brilliance, deposited there, accidentally.
Back at the workshop, the craftsmen navigate between the heaps of scattered wood and their creations. Created in 2007, Atelier Extramuros is a pioneer in its ecological approach. Up-cycling, circular economy, eco-design ... the furniture is made entirely with recycled wood and upgraded. The design is beautiful, the recovery being a source of creativity rather than a hindrance.
People in integration are supervised by the team of professionals. The resources of the workshop are orders from companies, institutional actors and state aid for the contracts of people in integration that Atelier Extramuros accompanies. In recent years, after their training in carpentry, many of them have been able to continue in this way. Atelier Extramuros is a gateway and not a place where one retains.
No artificial marketing speech justified by a partial ecological aspect. At the Atelier Extramuros each production stage bears an ethical and environmental footprint. Exemplarity at work.
